Women of every class, caste, shape, and race, are unified in the wondrous ordeal of Menstruation. But a lot of them do not have access to hygienic period products, and suffer due to the restricted knowledge and taboos associated with menstruation. Which is why, with every pack of Carmesi that you buy, we contribute in providing safe period products to women in need, and create awareness on safe menstrual hygiene practices.

MENSTRUAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT

MENSTRUAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT

With a vision to overcome Period Poverty, we have partnered with GiveHer5 and Livinguard Technologies for two projects - WOTR(2017-18) in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra and PURE(2018-2019) in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. Through these initiatives, we organise Menstrual Hygiene Management sessions, and distribute Saafkins - reusable cloth pads, to women with limited access to period-care products.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE WORKSHOPS

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE WORKSHOPS

In 2018, we started conducting Menstrual Hygiene Workshops with Uboontu Foundation in the urban slums of Madangir, New Delhi. The initiative was received with such positivity that what began as a small-scale project, has now expanded to cover every block in the vast Madangir Village. This project not only focuses on awareness around menstruation but also touches upon different issues like sexual abuse, reproductive rights, as well as teenage pregnancies..

Project Earth

SARD is a non-profit organisation under Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) to support development efforts of the Tibetan Community in South Asia. We partnered with them to create a menstrual health management program for school girls in Dharamshala and Nepal. WED has installed vending machines in schools to make it easier for the girls and teachers to get access to pads. The idea behind this project is to start a healthy conversation around periods and to enlighten the community about eco-friendly alternatives.

Project Pankh

Project Pankh

Project PANKH is a flagship campaign of Support Foundation that includes informal education/ vocational training for the intellectually and physically challenged children and adults. We are working with them on Project Pankh to initiate Menstrual Health sessions in Dakshinpuri, New Delhi. It is particularly a challenge to discuss menstrual health with children with disabilities. However, the initial aim of the project is to make them aware of the basics and train them to be self-sufficient in wearing pads without feeling scared.

Emergency Period Kit

Emergency Period Kit

We have partnered with Sacchi Saheli to conduct workshops on menstrual health and sexual abuse in government/ municipal corporation schools, as well as targeted communities in the Delhi-NCR region. The workshops provide holistic information about menstruation along with emergency kits for girls. This can be used if they get their first period or are surprised by their Period in school. This results in lesser dropouts and ‘normalises’ the concept of periods.

Plantation Drive

Plantation Drive

In early 2019, we started monthly tree plantation drives in Delhi, in collaboration with Green Yatra. Each month, we pick an area like a school, park, residential colony, or even a police station, and conduct plantation drives based on the area’s requirement. We make sure that the trees planted are in a protected environment and keep a check on their growth and maintenance. The trees we plant range from Belpatar, Jamun, Ficus, and Mango, to Neem, Ashoka, Pilkham, Kadam, and Bargad.
